Remember this Saturday is the 3rd Annual Perdido Key Martini Festival and this year promises to have even more creative entries as the event continues to draw the region\'s best bartenders for its "Gulf Coast Bartender" competition. Contestants will have three minutes to create a Martini that will be judged upon presentation, taste, originality & mixology.
The festival not only offers guests a chance to taste different liquors from over 16 vendors in either straight or martini form, it also benefits the area. Unlike other events, all ticket sales go to benefit area charities such as Perdido Bay Youth Sports, Relay for Life and Covenant Hospice. If you need a break from your martini research, craft and art booths will be on site, as well as food vendors. And make sure you catch the "Extreme Bartending Show," to watch professional bartenders show off their "flair" work.

When you arrive for your Perdido Key vacation you should definitely take note that there is a brand new IMAX movie, STORMCHASERS and they\'ve brought back Hurricane on the Bayou. The National Naval Aviation Museum is also doing an incentive program again for the IMAX Theatre! Stop by the Visitors Center and pick up a card, which qualifies you for a free backpack when you buy your IMAX ticket! We are open 7 days til 4:30.

| This year has been another great one in Perdido Key, FL! We enjoyed the company of our winter guests just after the New Year celebrations all the way through the end of March. The spring break season was filled with families enjoying the outdoor pool and warm beach weather. We helped a half-dozen happy couples tie the knot in late-April and early-May. The Memorial Day celebrations brought back our summer friends with a bang and the rest of the summer was so busy that we often ran out of condos. A few families decided to have their annual family reunions with us (some great cooking! thanks for the dinner!), the Little League World Series was in July and teams from all over came to enjoy the resorts while taking their shot at bring home a trophy, and all summer long the kayaks, fishing poles, beach toys and golf coupons from the office were being used! I think everyone went home and flaunted their Florida tan (or sunburn) with pride. Later, as the kids went back to school we began our festival season and every weekend has been filled with those looking for a short get-a-way from the hustle and bustle of the work week. Now, just after our first cool front of the fall we are beginning to look towards 2010. Many of our returning friends have already picked out their condos and reserved them for next year... We even have two weddings already planned! One of our repeat guests said that "renting condos is kinda of like buying fruit. If you wait, it is likely that they will be picked over." This made me think... perhaps we should send out an email telling those who have stayed with us when we revise out rental rates for the upcoming seasons. So, after seeing so many of our friends begin to plan for 2010 that is exactly what we are doing. We will keep the rental rates at the 2009 prices until the first weekend in December. This should give everyone some time to call up the family, see what their plans are, and hopefully find the right condo for next year\'s vacations. I hope that this email helps everyone to make arrangements for next year. We have kept the rates at the same level for the past 3 seasons, but now we have grown to be so busy that we keep running out of condos during the most popular seasons. If you have questions about any of the condos, resorts, or Perdido Key in general please do not hesitate to email the office and ask. Lastly, I wanted to say "thank you" for your help. Why? This year, through the unedited guest vacation reviews, the Purple Parrot Village Resort rose to the Number One spot to stay at in Perdido Key, FL on the TripAdvisor.com Popularity Index for Specialty Lodging (check it out yourself here ). We are very proud of that and have made it our mission for 2010 to change our condos from "a place you consider going to when planning a vacation" into "the only place you want to go to." I am sure that as we add more Perdido Sun condos to our vacation rental inventory that it too will continue to rise to the top of the Popularity Index as the views are amazing and we are continually helping the condo owners to update and upgrade to keep you coming back!
